It is with great pleasure that we invite you to attend the Law Council’s 36th Australian Legal Convention which will be held in Perth from 17-19 September 2009.
The Convention is a biennial event which brings together all branches of the legal profession. It is the pre-eminent forum for the sharing of new ideas and reviewing the effectiveness of some current laws.
In addition, we are anticipating a significant international presence at the Convention. We are expecting Bar Leaders to attend from several other countries, particularly from our region.
The Convention will focus on providing a forum for legal practitioners to receive their continuing professional development requirements. In additional to the plenary sessions, there will be four business streams covering legal practice, business law, current hot topics in several areas of law, and a stream with an international focus.
As usual, the Chief Justice of the High Court of Australia and the Commonwealth Attorney-General have been invited to deliver their customary ”State of the Nation” addresses and both have agreed to attend and speak.
The business program promises to be stimulating – with debates of the highest quality.
Both the social and partners’ programs have been designed to take advantage of the wonderful attractions Perth has to offer.
